Chen Jianguang Meets with Prime Minister of Pakistan Kakar

  On October 19, Chen Jianguang, Deputy General Manager and member of the Party Leadership Group of China Minmetals, Secretary of the Party Committee of MCC, and Chairman of MCC and China MCC, met with Prime Minister of Pakistan Kakar, who came to China to attend the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. The two sides had discussions and exchanges on cooperation in the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, mineral resource development, and other fields.

  Chen said that China Minmetals Corporation is one of the top 500 enterprises in the world with metal mining as its core business. In 2022, it realized an operating revenue of nearly CNY900 billion, and its operating performance reached a new record. As an important subsidiary of China Minmetals Corporation, the MCC has successfully transformed in recent years by virtue of the professional technical advantages and business qualification advantages accumulated in the field of iron and steel metallurgy, and built a business structure of "One Core, Two Main Bodies, and Five Characteristics" (metallurgical construction as the core, housing construction and municipal infrastructure as two main bodies, and inspection and testing, new energy materials, mineral resources, water environment protection, and metallurgical equipment manufacturing as five characteristics), making unremitting efforts towards the striving goal of "One Establishment, the Best and the Most Trusted, and Five Strengths" (creating MCC as a world-class enterprise with international competitiveness, the best overall solution provider of metallurgical construction and operation with super core competitiveness, and the most reliable general contractor of international and domestic leading capital construction, with the strongest value creativity, market competitiveness, innovation drive, resource allocation, and cultural soft power). MCC has a long-term and good cooperative relationship with Pakistan. It entered the Pakistani market as early as 1992, where it built and operated two non-ferrous metal mines. Over the years, MCC has participated in and witnessed the economic and social development of Pakistan, further strengthening its confidence in investment and development in Pakistan. He hoped that the two sides will continue to deepen business cooperation in mineral resource development, engineering construction, metal and mineral products trade, and other fields and build a more competitive industrial chain, supply chain, and value chain for the sustainable development of trade and investment between the two countries.

  Prime Minister Kakar said that Pakistan is one of the earliest participants in the "Belt and Road" Initiative. The Pakistani government is committed to building a high-quality China-Pakistan Economic Corridor to promote national economic development and improve people's living standards. This year, Pakistan established the "Special Investment Facilitation Council" (SIFC) to ensure and promote foreign investment in Pakistan from the legislative level, which will continue in effect. MCC is an important partner of Pakistan and its construction and operation of two metal mines has effectively promoted the sustainable development of the non-ferrous industry in Pakistan. The Government of Pakistan welcomes MCC to further expand its investment and construction in important fields, continuously improve the added value of mineral products, and promote the diversification of export products and more practical cooperation results, and spares no effort to provide support and help for the development of MCC in Pakistan.

  Gohar Ejaz, Pakistani Minister of Commerce, Shamshad Akhtar, Minister for Finance, Revenue, and Economic Affairs, Mushahid Hussain, Federal Minister for Planning and Development, etc., Zhu Guangxia, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of MCC and China MCC and Vice President of China MCC, and Wang Jicheng, Xu Yongjie, and other heads of relevant functional departments and subsidiaries of the headquarters, attended the meeting.
